Michael Aspen
Owner of “A Taste of the Good Life”, a gourmet in-home catering company, Michael is a graduate of Edmonds Community College where he was selected Culinary Arts Student of the Year. He has also trained at the Seattle Culinary Academy and the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in London.

Greg Atkinson
Renown NW master chef and food writer Greg Atkinson serves as the Director of Culinary Consulting in Seattle, writes the “Taste” column for Seattle Times’ Pacific NW Magazine and can be heard weekly on KUOK Radio’s “The Beat”.

Peter Belknap
Peter is currently Executive Chef at the Oyster Creek Inn on Chuckanut Drive. When not cooking, he pursues his other passion as exhibiting sculptor and painter.

Kevin Buck
Artisan Chocolatier, Kevin is owner of Chocolate Neccessities in Bellingham, WA.

Alberto Candivi

Chef Alberto is owner of Il Granaio in Mount Vernon and was awarded the “Best Chef” & “Best Italian Restaurant” by Skagit Count Business Pulse readers. Born and raised in Milan, Italy, Alberto has over 30 years of cooking experience in restaurants here and abroad.


Knut Christensen

Knut is owner of Paella Works Catering Company. He has 17 years experience, specializing in Mediterranean and Italian cuisine.


Anne Fleming

Anne comes to Gretchens from Sur La Table in Kirkland. “I’ve been a Foodie all of my life, so when the opportunity came for me to attend Culinary School I jumped at it.” Working at Gretchens gives me the best of all worlds, I get to do some of my own classes & work with some of the best Chefs.


Scott Fraser

An in-house favorite, Chef Scott has returned to Gretchens. He and his wife Josee own Frasers Gourmet Hideaway, Oak Harbor’s elegant new restaurant.

Nahla Gholam
Nahla is co-owner of Mediterranean Specialties Cafe & Goods in Bellingham. Her cooking skills developed through world travel, life experiences and a passion for good food. Nahla cooks and teaches classes in her store.

Tom Hoffman
Born and raised in Mount Vernon, Tom is the chef of The Edison in Bow, WA. He was formerly co-owner and chef of Ferry Street Grill & Bar in Sedro Woolley, WA.

Mark Iverson
A master of quick, easy, elegant entertaining, Mark is the owner of Mark’s on Pine Square, a floral design studio, and Courtyard Cafe & Catering.

Jim Kowalski
Jim is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He is currently pursuing several culinary avenues including private catering, teaching, & a possible new restaurant. His NW cooking style never fails to impress his guests.
Heidi Satterlee
Pastry Chef Heidi Satterlee, Whatcom county native. Heidi has worked as a pastry chef in California. Trained in Europe she has successfully opened several businesses for others and taught at the Art Institute of Seattle and created programs at BTC.
Seth McKee
Owner-chef of Bay City Bistro in Oak Harbo, Seth is a Washington native. Trained in classical French cusine at the Art Institute of Seattle, he has five years professional experience.

Casey Schanen

Raised on a Skagit Valley farm, Casey is passionate about his heritage and features local organically grown food in his restaurant. Chef Casey & his wife Susan own the very popular Nell Thorn restaurant.

Warren Tessler
Warren, owner of La Vie En Rose French Bakery in Anacortes & Bellingham, is a graduate of the Baking & Pastry program at Johnson & Wales University.

Brian Tolbert
Executive Chef and owner of La Conner’s La Dolce Plate, Brian has cooked for U.S. presidents and the Prince of Spain. Educated at CIA Hyde Park and Scottsdale Culinary Institute, we welcome Brian back to Gretchens.

Vanessa Zimmerman
Vanessa, Pastry Chef at La Vie En Rose, is an honors graduate of Skagit Valley College’s Culinary Arts Program.
Robert Zutter
Chef/Owner of Star Bar, the new hot spot in Anacortes, Chef Robert invites you to indulge your senses in the colors, aromas, textures and flavors of world market cuisine.
Co-op Community Cooks
While the focus for these Co-op classes is cooperative cooking, we’ve got some expert resources to help you get to know new foods. Raw Foods Instructor Sage McLive works with Cedar Springs, while our Grains and Soups Instructor, Adrift and Co-op alumnus Betsy Delph currently cooks for NCI. Our experienced Co-op staff is branching out to offer you the benefit of their applied food wisdom. Produce whiz Heidi Hartford will lead you through the basics of good juicing, and Produce Manager Ben Goe and Meat Manager Galen LeGrand will lend you their insights into the magical worlds of greens and meats. Join us in April for our Earth Month series: Good for the Planet and Good for You!
